'Everything is Connected #1' evokes a sense of layered complexity and introspection. I painted the original piece as a response to dealing with the challenges of menopause. I was affected deeply on an emotional and mental level, and many of my feelings were uncomfortable and confronting. It was difficult to verbalise about my experience and painting helped me to express what I was going through.
The soft, muted colours in this piece combined with the bold accent colour, textured brushstrokes and paint splatters create a feeling of both chaos and harmony, which perfectly reflects the time of intense and conflicting emotions I was experiencing during this time.
